Throughout our lives, we return again and again to the experience of being small.
As children, the world feels impossibly large. Everything is unfamiliar. Expectations tower above us. We stand before challenges we cannot yet understand, filled with equal parts curiosity and fear.
For a time, we grow into those spaces. We learn. We build lives. We become the people others depend upon.
Then, often without warning, life changes again.
Technology outpaces us. Our bodies change. Roles shift. Retirement alters identity. The world becomes unfamiliar once more. We find ourselves standing before another impossible landscape—not because we have failed, but because being human means continually entering places we have never been before.
The monumental architecture throughout Beyond Measure is not meant to represent buildings. It represents the emotional landscapes we inhabit whenever life feels larger than we are. Children and elders appear throughout this collection because they often occupy opposite ends of the same emotional experience. One looks toward an unknowable future. The other looks back across a lifetime while facing an unknowable future once again.

Scale and Solitude explores our relationship with immensity—those encounters with nature that inspire wonder, humility, and reflection. The photographs in this collection seek moments where a single presence, whether human, animal, or object, is held within something far larger than itself.

Many of the images are intentionally rendered in muted color or black and white. By softening color or removing it entirely, the distractions of description fall away, allowing form, light, distance, and emotion to take precedence. The absence of vibrant color creates space for contemplation and emphasizes the quiet dialogue between subject and surroundings.
